The physical characteristics and the chemical resistance values given in the table are empirical values and results from laboratory experiments. As the operating conditions vary from one user to another, the indications can only serve as guidelines. A guarantee cannot be issued. In the case of doubt, please contact our Application Technology Department in Cologne for a definitive material definition. The physical values and the chemical stability apply to the upper rubber layer in case of multilayer coverings.

1: very good

A: insignificant or no attack at all

2: good

B: weak until moderate attack

3: satisfactory

C: strong attack until destruction

4: sufficient

D: examination necessary

 

Physical properties:

For tear resistance, elongation at tear and tensile strength the materials are classified in function of their hardness.  Therefore, only materials which have the same hardness can be compared with one another.

1. For polyurethane-materials: Dry/wet application

2. Linear force in N/mm applies for an average roller diameter of 300 mm, temperatures up to 50° C and revolutions up to 250 r.p.m.

3. Tensile strength  following DIN 53504

4. Tear resistance following DIN 53515

5. Abrasion following DIN 53516. The abrasion of materials with a hardness inferior to 50 Shore A cannot be tested in accordance with DIN-standards.

6. Compression set following DIN 53517 (22 h/70° C)

7. Resilience following DIN 53512

8. Specific electrical conductance following DIN/IEC 93; the classification of the values measured on special test flaps is as follows:

1 = conductive (electr. resistance <1/105 Ω/cm)

2 = semi-conductive (electr. resistance <1/109 Ω/cm)

0 = Insulator (electr. resistance >1/1012 Ω/cm)

The conductivity measured on the rollers may deviate from the values given here.  In the case of any ambiguity, please contact our Application Technology Department.

9. Reference fluid IRM 903

10. Fuel No. 1 (Isooctane acc. to DIN 53521)

11. Alcohols as e. g. methyl alcohol (methanol), ethyl alcohol (ethanol), propyl- and isopropyl alcohol (propanol and isopropanol)

12. Ester and ketones as e. g. ethyl ester of acetic acid (ethyl acetat), butyl ester of acetic ester (butyl acetat), acetone, methyl ethyl ketone (MEK), methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK)

13. Aromatic hydrocarbons as e. g. benzene, toluene, xylene, phenol

14. Ozone following DIN 53509, Part 1, process A
