the New Production Plant in Suzhou/China

Cologne, May 9th 2005 Böttcher inaugurates its second production plant in Asia in Suzhou, near Shanghai, one of the most important industrial centres in China. On April 29th 2005 took place the opening ceremony of Böttcher's 16th production plant in Wujiang (region Suzhou, area of Shanghai). A short review into history: Printing on paper was invented in China in the 8th century, during the Tang period. A block of wood with engraved Chinese characters and images served as print form. A Chinese citizen, Mr. Bi Shang, finally invented a printing process with mobile characters (1041 up to 1048). It was in 1440 only that the German citizen Gutenberg invented the art of printing with mobile characters. 500 years later export of newest printing technology to China is considerably on the increase; above all offset printing, particularly advantageous for high volume print runs, has started to conquer the Chinese markets. |
![]() For the market leader Böttcher an investment in a roller production plant is merely reasonable in order to meet Chinese requirements of elastomer covered printing and industrial rollers on site.
